Planning an event in Leesburg?
Leesburg is the Loudoun County seat, a walkable historic downtown about 35 miles west of DC with big estates, wineries and a large conference campus close by. It suits everything from a 500-person conference near Dulles to a board dinner in a historic house.
Which venues should you look at?
The National Conference Center
A dedicated conference campus that has hosted meetings, training and learning programs for 50 years. It sits about 14 miles from Dulles International Airport and roughly 45 minutes from Washington, with meeting rooms, a theater and a ballroom on one site.
For photos: large indoor ballroom and breakout rooms plus a courtyard and outdoor gathering areas for daylight group frames.
Lansdowne Resort
A 500-acre resort in Loudoun County with golf by Robert Trent Jones Jr. and Greg Norman, a spa and 55,000 square feet of flexible meeting space. Groups come for the mix of serious meeting rooms and wine-country downtime close to Dulles.
For photos: ballrooms and meeting rooms inside, with golf course and countryside views for outdoor receptions.
Morven Park
A 1,000-acre historic site with the Davis Mansion, two museums and an internationally known equestrian center. It hosts weddings and corporate events and keeps its grounds free and open to visitors daily.
For photos: mansion interiors, long lawns and equestrian fields give strong daylight backdrops.
Oatlands Historic House and Gardens
A former plantation founded in 1798 with an 1804 mansion, a 4.5-acre walled garden and trails across 418 acres. It is affiliated with the National Trust for Historic Preservation and rents spaces such as the Carriage House, Greenhouse and Garden Rooms.
For photos: walled gardens and historic facades photograph well in soft daylight; the Carriage House and Greenhouse work for indoor receptions.
Tally Ho Theater
A live music venue on West Market Street in downtown Leesburg that brings national acts to town. It rents the stage, balcony VIP sections and restaurant for private events, up to 350 seated or 600 cocktail-style, with in-house A/V and lighting.
For photos: stage lighting and a balcony view over the room.
Stone Tower Winery
A hilltop winery outside Leesburg on Hogback Mountain that hosts corporate events and private parties as well as weddings, with indoor and outdoor spaces.
For photos: open vineyard and mountain views for golden-hour groups; indoor tasting rooms for evening events.
Raspberry Falls Golf & Hunt Club
A Gary Player designed championship course that opened in 1996, set in horse country with views of the Catoctin Mountains. It runs corporate and charity golf outings and hosts banquets for up to 100 in a southern mansion style clubhouse.
For photos: rolling course, stone walls and mountain views outside; clubhouse rooms for awards dinners.
How do you plan the photos?
Once the venue’s set, the rest gets easier. Event photography pricing lays out the rates, how many hours you need helps size the day, and the event photography shot list covers what to capture. Planning a multi-day program? Here’s how I work as a conference photographer. For a company gathering, corporate event photography shows the work. With everyone in one place, it’s also a good day for team portraits. For more around Loudoun, see corporate event venues in Loudoun County and winery offsites in Loudoun and Fauquier.
