How many hours of coverage do you need?

How many hours do I need?

Fewer than you think, often. One of my worst nightmares is being at an event all day when I only needed to be there for two hours. So I’d rather tell you what the event needs than sell you a longer booking.

What if I think I need four hours?

Sometimes people say they need four hours of coverage, and the reality is that the moments you care about fit in two. When that’s the case, I’ll say so. The benefit to you is that I’m photographing less and can get you additional images more quickly.

The same goes for a three-hour cocktail reception. You may not actually need me for all three hours. You may want two, and I’ll be there a little before and a little after anyway.

How do I decide?

Send me the schedule and mark the moments that matter: a keynote, an award, the toast, the group photo, a sponsor moment. I’ll tell you honestly how much coverage that takes, even if the answer is less than you planned to book.

For what the booking blocks cost, see what event photography costs. If your day does run over, here’s how overtime works.

Where I work

I’m based in Northern Virginia and most of my work is around DC, so inside the DC metro there’s no travel line on your budget.

What to send me

The date, the venue, the schedule, and which moments you can’t miss. Here’s how a full day runs.
