How many photos will I get?
Most photographers won’t answer that with a number, and the honest reason is that the number isn’t ours to promise.
An eight-hour conference with four concurrent tracks gives you a lot more usable frames than an eight-hour conference with one stage. A portrait day gives you one finished frame per person who sits down. The event decides.
So why does everybody ask?
Because it’s the one measurable thing a buyer can think to ask about, and because some photographers do quote a number, which makes it feel like a standard.
I’d be a little careful with a quoted number. It’s easy to hit a count by delivering everything, blinks included, and eight hundred images nobody has time to look through is worse than two hundred good ones.
What actually determines it
Here’s what moves the number:
- How long I’m there, and how much is happening at once.
- How many people have to appear in it.
- What you’re going to do with them. A recap post needs a different set than a sponsor report or a website refresh, and knowing which one changes what I’m looking for all day.
The better question
Ask what you’re getting, not how many. A set that covers the whole program. Every sponsor obligation met. The people who had to be in it, in it. Enough of the room to use next year.
Tell me what the photos are for and I’ll tell you whether the plan gets you enough of them.
What shows up
A private gallery at full resolution, culled so everything in it is usable. Download and share as much as you want.
