Why photograph the awards?
There’s nothing like an awards night. The whole room is there to celebrate people for good work, and the people being celebrated usually remember it for a long time.
They’ll want the picture. So will you.
How do we get every winner?
Send me the run of show and the winners list before the night. Then:
- The name on the screen.
- The walk up.
- The handshake and the award, facing the room.
- A posed shot with the presenter right after, before they sit back down.
That last one is the photo winners post, so build a few seconds for it into the program.
What about the entertainment?
If you’ve brought in a band or a performer, they’re part of the night, and they should be in the photos. It’s what makes an awards night feel like a celebration and not a meeting.
How do we cover sponsors?
Chances are the night has sponsors you want to thank properly. Tell me who they are ahead of time: their table, their logo on the step-and-repeat, their people at the mic. Sponsors like to see that they were there.
How soon can winners share?
Same-day highlights if you ask for them. The full gallery usually comes back in one to two weeks.
How many photos you’ll get and the shot list guide help with the planning. A full day on site is $5,200, and what event photography costs covers the rest. More of my evening work is on Galas.
