Planning an event in Harbor East and Fells Point?
East of the Inner Harbor, Harbor East’s newer towers give way to the cobblestones and old piers of Fells Point and the converted canneries of Canton. It is where Baltimore’s luxury hotels and some of its most storied waterfront buildings meet.
Which venues should you look at?
Four Seasons Hotel Baltimore
Opened in 2011 in Harbor East, the Four Seasons has about 20,000 square feet of function space. Most of its function rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows over the Inner Harbor and Harbor East, including the harbor-facing Cobalt Ballroom.
For photos: floor-to-ceiling harbor windows give soft daylight and skyline views for receptions and portraits.
Baltimore Marriott Waterfront
A 32-story tower on the water in Harbor East with about 750 rooms and two levels of function space, including a very large ballroom. It is a regular home for association conferences that want a waterfront hotel with room for everyone under one roof.
For photos: large ballrooms for general sessions, with harbor views on the upper floors for breaks and receptions.
Sagamore Pendry Baltimore
A hotel inside the Recreation Pier in Fells Point, a city pier that opened in 1914 and sat empty for years before its restoration. The restored 1914 Sagamore Ballroom and a pool deck with harbor views host galas, dinners and receptions.
For photos: historic ballroom detail inside and an open pier deck outside give two very different looks in one night.
Canopy by Hilton Baltimore Harbor Point
Opened in 2020 on the top floors of the Wills Wharf building at Harbor Point, between Harbor East and Fells Point. Its event spaces include a glass-enclosed boardroom, a room with floor-to-ceiling windows and a ninth-floor terrace over the harbor.
For photos: a compact space with big windows and a terrace, good for small meetings and rooftop receptions.
Reginald F. Lewis Museum of Maryland African American History and Culture
A Smithsonian Affiliate museum at 830 East Pratt Street, on the edge of Harbor East, devoted to the lives and history of African American Marylanders. It hosts outside events, which gives receptions and nonprofit gatherings a setting with real meaning.
For photos: bold modern architecture and gallery spaces lend weight to galas and program events.
Frederick Douglass-Isaac Myers Maritime Park
A Living Classrooms museum at 1417 Thames Street in Fells Point that honors Baltimore’s African American maritime history, including Frederick Douglass’s years in the city and the Black-owned Chesapeake Marine Railway and Dry Dock Company founded in 1866. It preserves one of Baltimore’s oldest waterfront industrial buildings and hosts special events.
For photos: old brick, timber and the water’s edge give a grounded, historic feel.
How do you plan the photos?
Once the venue’s set, the rest gets easier. Event photography pricing lays out the rates, how many hours you need helps size the day, and the event photography shot list covers what to capture. Planning a multi-day program? Here’s how I work as a conference photographer. For a company gathering, corporate event photography shows the work. With everyone in one place, it’s also a good day for team portraits. If you’re bringing a team from DC, how to book an event photographer walks through the steps.
What else is nearby?
Event venues nearby: Baltimore’s Inner Harbor, Towson and Hunt Valley, Annapolis. I’m based in Northern Virginia and travel for events; see my work as an event photographer.
What should I send you?
Just send me the date and any other details that matter, and I’ll get back to you. You can see my pricing here, and if your event needs a custom quote, I’m happy to put one together once I have the details.
