The City of Fairfax is the historic county seat of Fairfax County, with George Mason University’s main campus just to its south. The area around it, from Fair Oaks to Clifton and Lorton, adds hotels, a winery and an arts campus.
Which venues should you look at?
Fairfax Marriott at Fair Oaks
A conference hotel near Fair Oaks Mall with 13 event rooms. Its largest spaces, the Potomac Grand Ballroom and The Atrium, each hold about 500 guests.
For photos: an atrium space brings daylight, rare for a hotel ballroom.
Center for the Arts at George Mason University
George Mason’s main performing arts venue on its Fairfax campus, with a 1,935-seat Concert Hall, the 460-seat Harris Theatre and a 140-seat black box. Outside groups can rent its spaces.
For photos: professional stage lighting; strong for keynotes, ceremonies and award moments.
EagleBank Arena
George Mason University’s arena on Patriot Circle, home of Mason basketball and a regular stop for concerts and touring shows. It takes event bookings through its Book an Event office.

Paradise Springs Winery
A winery on Yates Ford Road in Clifton that pairs rustic charm with a historic backdrop. Its event spaces include a hayloft with a deck and a barn with a crystal chandelier, and it offers a corporate events program.
For photos: barn wood, chandelier light and vineyard views; golden hour outdoors is a plus.
Workhouse Arts Center
A 55-acre arts campus on the grounds of the former D.C. Workhouse and Reformatory in Lorton, now home to studios, galleries and a prison museum. It rents more than ten event spaces for meetings and special occasions.
For photos: historic brick buildings and gallery walls give texture and story.
