Fairfax County

Fairfax County is next door to home. I've photographed events in Tysons, Reston, Herndon and Chantilly, and I take portraits for members at a coworking space in Fairfax every month.

Events

This is contractor and tech country. The events are all-hands meetings, customer days, association annual meetings in the Tysons and Reston hotels, and trade shows at the Dulles Expo Center. I cover company events and conferences start to finish: the stage, the room and the people in it.

Team portraits

That coworking session is simple: people come down between meetings, sit for a few minutes and get one retouched frame. The same setup works in your office, in the lobby or by a big window.

Towns

Two of them have their own pages: Tysons and Reston.

On the day

Tysons traffic sets the schedule, so I arrive early and plan around the Beltway and the Toll Road. Office campuses usually need a visitor badge, so send my name to the front desk the day before.

Questions I get

Do you charge travel in Fairfax County?

No. It's next door to Brambleton, where I live, and well inside the DC metro.

Can you work in a hotel ballroom?

Yes, a lot of events here happen in one. Ballrooms run dim and warm, so I bring fast lenses and only add flash where it won't distract the stage.
