Planning an event in Tysons and McLean?

Tysons is a dense business district in Fairfax County with four Silver Line Metro stations and two major malls, Tysons Corner Center and Tysons Galleria. Neighboring McLean and Vienna add quieter, leafier settings, including Wolf Trap.

Which venues should you look at?

The Ritz-Carlton, Tysons Corner

A luxury hotel attached to Tysons Galleria, rated Four-Star by Forbes Travel Guide for 2026. Its Ritz-Carlton Ballroom is billed by the hotel as the largest luxury ballroom in Northern Virginia, with the newer Peachgrove Ballroom and smaller rooms alongside.

For photos: polished ballrooms with chandeliers; upper-floor lounges overlook Northern Virginia.

Hyatt Regency Tysons Corner Center

Opened in 2015 inside the Tysons Corner Center complex, a short walk from the Tysons Metro station and the mall’s plaza. It offers a ballroom for several hundred guests plus a dozen boardrooms and conference rooms, and a terrace off its Peach Grove space.

For photos: modern ballroom and an outdoor terrace; the mall plaza nearby adds urban backdrops.

Tysons Corner Marriott

A Leesburg Pike hotel within walking distance of Tysons Corner Center and Metrorail. It has 11 event rooms, led by the Galleria Ballroom, which holds about 550.

For photos: mid-size ballroom that suits conferences and holiday parties.

Archer Hotel Tysons

A boutique hotel with an industrial-elegant style at the foot of the McLean Silver Line station in Scotts Run South, steps from Capital One Center. It has about 11,600 square feet of indoor event space plus a mostly covered Penthouse Terrace with sunset views.

For photos: boutique interiors and a rooftop terrace give character for receptions and small groups.

Capital One Hall

A performing arts center that opened in October 2021 with a 1,600-seat Main Theater, the 225-seat Vault black box and a rooftop amphitheater called the Perch. It also serves as a corporate event center and books private events.

For photos: big stage lighting for keynotes; the rooftop adds skyline frames.

Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts

Congress made Catherine Filene Shouse’s former farm the first national park for the performing arts in 1966. The outdoor Filene Center holds about 7,000, and The Barns at Wolf Trap is a 382-seat theater built from two restored 18th-century barns.

For photos: wooded park setting and timber-framed barns; very different from a hotel ballroom.

How do you plan the photos?

Once the venue’s set, the rest gets easier. Event photography pricing lays out the rates, how many hours you need helps size the day, and the event photography shot list covers what to capture. Planning a multi-day program? Here’s how I work as a conference photographer. For a company gathering, corporate event photography shows the work. With everyone in one place, it’s also a good day for team portraits. For more across Northern Virginia, see DC-area venues that photograph well and team building in Northern Virginia.
