Planning an event in Arlington?
Arlington sits across the Potomac from the National Mall, so many of its hotels and rooftops look straight at the monuments. Crystal City, Pentagon City and National Landing pack big conference hotels next to Reagan National Airport and the Metro, while Rosslyn and Ballston add skyline venues a bridge away from Georgetown.
Which venues should you look at?
Hyatt Regency Crystal City at Reagan National Airport
A large conference hotel minutes from Reagan National Airport, built for association meetings and multi-day programs. Its Regency Ballroom is one of the biggest in Northern Virginia, and the hotel also lists rooftop event space looking toward the monuments.
For photos: big ballroom rooms with high ceilings give room for stage and audience wides; the rooftop adds a skyline backdrop at dusk.
Crystal Gateway Marriott
One of Arlington’s busiest meeting hotels, with close to 40,000 square feet of event space across about 30 rooms. It sits on Richmond Highway in Crystal City with easy Metro and airport access, which is why national associations keep coming back.
For photos: expect hotel ballroom lighting and many breakout rooms; plan for quick moves between sessions on the same floor.
The Ritz-Carlton, Pentagon City
A polished hotel attached to the Pentagon City shopping district and Metro, with more than 17,000 square feet of redesigned event space. It has long ties to the military community and the USO, and it is a regular pick for defense and government-facing dinners.
For photos: refined, warm ballrooms suit receptions and award dinners; smaller boardrooms work well for leadership meetings.
Renaissance Arlington Capital View Hotel
A modern hotel in National Landing about a mile from Reagan National Airport. Marriott lists eight event rooms led by a Grand Ballroom for up to 900 guests, a solid size for galas and company meetings.
For photos: contemporary interiors and a large ballroom give clean backgrounds for stage moments and group photos.
Hilton Arlington Rosslyn The Key
A 36-story hotel that opened in August 2025 at the foot of the Key Bridge. Its rooftop venue, The View, sits on the 36th floor with room for up to 400 guests and wide views over DC, Arlington and the Potomac.
For photos: floor-to-sky views make the rooftop a strong spot for skyline portraits and reception wides, best around sunset.
Top of the Town
A private penthouse event space in Rosslyn known for one thing above all: a panoramic view of the Washington skyline across the river. It holds about 180 standing guests, a good size for receptions and company parties.
For photos: the glass wall of skyline is the star; balance interior light against the view and time key moments for twilight.
Army Navy Country Club
A private, member-owned club founded in 1924, with its main clubhouse in Arlington. It hosts golf tournaments, association dinners and military-community events in its ballroom and rooftop terrace, usually through a member or a sponsoring organization.
For photos: traditional clubhouse rooms and green golf grounds; outdoor tournament days mix action with group photos.
The Westin Arlington Gateway
A Ballston hotel two blocks from the Ballston Metro, with roughly 17,000 square feet of renovated meeting and banquet space. It suits mid-size corporate meetings and training days away from the downtown crowds.
For photos: mid-size ballroom and breakout rooms with even hotel lighting; easy to cover several rooms in one day.
How do you plan the photos?
A good venue makes good pictures easier. If you’re comparing quotes, start with event photography rates and how many hours of coverage you really need. Then see the work: conference photography, corporate events and charity gala photography. With everyone in one place, it’s also a good day for team portraits.
