Planning an event in Reston?

Reston is a planned community founded by Robert E. Simon Jr., who welcomed its first residents in 1964. Today it pairs lakes and wooded paths with a dense business core around Reston Town Center and two Silver Line Metro stations.

Which venues should you look at?

Hyatt Regency Reston

The anchor hotel of Reston Town Center, steps from its shops, fountain and pavilion. It has more than 33,000 square feet of event space, renovated in 2025, including a pillar-free ballroom with 16-foot ceilings that the hotel calls one of the largest in Fairfax County.

For photos: large pillar-free ballroom is easy to light; Town Center streets just outside offer quick outdoor frames.

JW Marriott Reston Station

Virginia’s first JW Marriott opened in September 2025 in a 28-story tower above the Wiehle-Reston East Silver Line station. Its 11,700-square-foot ballroom has 20-foot ceilings and is part of more than 40,000 square feet of event space.

For photos: new, high-ceilinged ballroom and modern finishes; tower views likely from upper floors.

The Westin Reston Heights

A 191-room hotel on Sunrise Valley Drive, sized for board meetings and smaller gatherings. It is a quieter option close to the Reston Town Center and Metro area.

For photos: smaller meeting rooms suit board sessions and small-group portraits.

Reston Town Center Pavilion

The covered pavilion at the heart of Reston Town Center hosts concerts, an arts festival and winter ice skating, surrounded by more than 50 shops and 35 restaurants. Private events in the pavilion are booked through the Hyatt Regency Reston catering team.

For photos: open-air structure in a busy town square; evening string lights and storefronts make lively backdrops.

Reston Community Center

Reston’s community center runs two sites, Hunters Woods and Lake Anne, with the Leila Gordon Theatre, meeting rooms and galleries. Rooms and the theater can be requested for rentals.

For photos: theater stage and gallery walls suit presentations and award moments.

The Lake House (Reston Association)

Reston Association’s lakeside community building on Lake Newport, with a deck over the water and a light-filled room with a fireplace. It rents to members and non-members year round and suits small offsites and receptions.

For photos: natural light and a lake view from the deck; best in daylight.

How do you plan the photos?

Picked the room? Next comes the plan. What event photography costs has the rates, and the event shot list helps you decide what matters most. For an association, see annual meeting photography; for a company, corporate event photography. Evening events have their own page for gala photography. With everyone in one place, it’s also a good day for team portraits. For more across Northern Virginia, see DC-area venues that photograph well and team building in Northern Virginia.
