Planning an event in Frederick?

Frederick is a historic Main Street city about 45 miles from both DC and Baltimore, known for its downtown Carroll Creek Park, Civil War history and a ring of wineries, breweries and distilleries. A Marriott hotel and conference center on Carroll Creek is under construction for 2027.

Which venues should you look at?

Weinberg Center for the Arts

The Weinberg opened as the Tivoli movie palace on December 23, 1926, and still has its original 1926 Wurlitzer organ, said to be the only one in Maryland in its first installation. Saved after a 1976 flood and owned by the City of Frederick, it hosts performances, conventions and business meetings.

For photos: ornate 1920s auditorium and stage light; strong for keynotes and award nights.

Delaplaine Arts Center

The Delaplaine fills a restored 1907 mill on Carroll Creek Park that once milled flour and later distilled whiskey. Its galleries, small conference space and a creekside event deck added in 2020 rent for corporate events in the middle of downtown.

For photos: gallery walls and creekside deck give art-filled and outdoor options in one booking.

Clarion Inn Frederick Event Center

On Holiday Drive just off the highways, the Clarion Inn is described by meeting guides as the largest meeting venue in Frederick, with the Francis Scott Key Ballroom and a garden courtyard. It hosts the city’s larger banquets, trade shows and association meetings.

For photos: large ballroom light; the courtyard gives an outdoor option for group photos.

McClintock Distilling

McClintock is an organic distillery on South Carroll Street, steps from Carroll Creek, making gin, vodka, whiskey and cordials. It offers tours, tastings and classes, and its space books for private events.

For photos: copper stills and an industrial room make warm, textured frames for small receptions.

Springfield Manor Winery, Distillery & Brewery

Springfield Manor is a 130-acre estate north of Frederick with a manor built in 1774, a winery making ten varietals and blends, a distillery licensed in 2011 and a small brewery. Its ballroom and barn seat 300 for corporate, fundraising and private functions.

For photos: stone manor, barn timbers and vineyard views; golden hour on the grounds is the money shot.

Linganore Winecellars

Run by one family for three generations, Linganore is described as the largest winery in Maryland and one of the oldest on the East Coast. It hosts festivals and private and corporate events in a vineyard setting east of Frederick.

For photos: open vineyard landscapes and tasting rooms; great for relaxed team gatherings.

Dutch’s Daughter

Dutch’s Daughter has been a Frederick dining name since 1984, named for owner Eileen Gideon’s father, and has been on Himes Avenue since 2000. Its private rooms host business dinners and receptions, and its New Year’s Eve gala is now in its 15th year.

For photos: elegant dining rooms with warm light; suited to dinners and smaller receptions.

How do you plan the photos?

Once the venue’s set, the rest gets easier. Event photography pricing lays out the rates, how many hours you need helps size the day, and the event photography shot list covers what to capture. Planning a multi-day program? Here’s how I work as a conference photographer. For a company gathering, corporate event photography shows the work. If you’re bringing a team from DC, how to book an event photographer walks through the steps.

What else is nearby?
