Planning an event in Fredericksburg?
Fredericksburg sits halfway between DC and Richmond on I-95, a historic river town with a walkable downtown and plenty of meeting space near the interstate. Planners use it for regional conferences, trade shows, nonprofit galas and company parties that want easy access from both metros.
Which venues should you look at?
Fredericksburg Convention Center
The convention center on Carl D. Silver Parkway offers more than 120,000 square feet, including an 80,000-square-foot exhibition hall and a Grand Ballroom for up to 700. It hosts conventions, trade and consumer shows, banquets and fundraisers.
For photos: a big, divisible hall and ballroom call for wide room views plus close coverage of speakers and booths.
Riverside Center Weddings and Events
Riverside Center sits at the I-95 and Route 17 interchange just north of downtown, alongside its professional dinner theater. Its event side hosts sales rallies, training seminars, trade shows and holiday parties, with a main room for up to 650 at a reception.
For photos: high ceilings and flexible rooms make it easy to stage awards and group frames.
The Publisher, Downtown Fredericksburg, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel
The Publisher opened in 2024 on William Street, on the longtime site of The Free Lance-Star newspaper, and its lobby nods to that history with vintage typewriters and books. Rooms such as The Press, the Wine Room and the glass-enclosed Editor’s Terrace host meetings, dinners and receptions.
For photos: window-lit rooms and a glass atrium terrace give soft, bright light for smaller events.
A. Smith Bowman Distillery
A. Smith Bowman calls itself the oldest distillery in Virginia; it started on the Bowman family’s Sunset Hills farm, now Reston, and moved to Fredericksburg in 1988. Its event space and front lawn host private parties and corporate evenings, with tours and tastings available for smaller groups.
For photos: the barrel warehouse and copper stills give rich, moody backdrops for group and candid frames.
Jepson Alumni Executive Center at UMW
The Jepson Alumni Executive Center on Hanover Street belongs to the University of Mary Washington and is open to businesses and nonprofits as well as alumni. It offers the Rappahannock Grand Ballroom, galleries, boardrooms and courtyards, with the Kalnen Inn on site.
For photos: ballroom, boardroom and courtyard options cover both formal programs and outdoor receptions.
Virginia Credit Union Stadium
Home of the Fredericksburg Nationals, the ballpark runs year-round as an event venue with a club level, suites and the field itself. The team markets it for company holiday parties, meetings, luncheons and charity galas.
For photos: field-level and suite views add an unusual, energetic backdrop to company events.
Fredericksburg Area Museum
The Fredericksburg Area Museum tells the region’s story from its home on Princess Anne Street in the historic downtown. Visit Fredericksburg lists its Market Square and Council Chambers among the city’s meeting and event spaces.
For photos: historic downtown setting and exhibit spaces suit receptions and small evening events.
How do you plan the photos?
A good venue makes good pictures easier. If you’re comparing quotes, start with event photography rates and how many hours of coverage you really need. Then see the work: conference photography, corporate events and charity gala photography. If you’re bringing a team from DC, how to book an event photographer walks through the steps.
